ABOUT
THE BRANCH R.S.P.C.A.
Tameside and Glossop Branch - caring for local animals since 1899. The
Tameside and Glossop Branch of the RSPCA, in common with all local branches is
separate and independent from the parent charity, i.e. the National RSPCA. The
easiest way to understand this structure is to think of it in terms of a Franchise.
There are 192 Branches of the RSPCA and every Branch is slightly different from
its neighbours. They operate their own animal welfare programmes, which run in
tandem with the National Society. Each branch raises its own funds and manages
its own affairs. The branch does not employ paid staff and is run entirely by
volunteers. We raise funds
to continue to pay for the private boarding of animals brought in by RSPCA Inspectors
which are then re-homed by the Branch. Please visit our cat and dog galleries
if you would like to adopt. A home visit is always undertaken by our volunteer
home checkers to ensure a good match is made between the animal and its potential
adopter. Branch volunteers
also work hard raising funds to support our assisted neutering and treatment schemes
which enable people on low incomes to meet expensive veterinary bills. Towns
in the Branch area: Ashton-u-Lyne, Audenshaw, Broadbottom, Charlesworth, Denton,
Droylsden, Dukinfield, Glossop, Hadfield, Hattersley, Hyde, Mossley, Mottram,
Padfield, Stalybridge, and Tintwistle. For
